Indications of Ecoderm TA Cream

For the following conditions, econazole nitrate and triamcinolone acetonide are recommended:

  • Acne-causing mycoses
  • The diaper rash
  • Psoriasis
  • Athlete’s foot, or tinea pedis
  • Theodora Corporis (Ringworm)
  • Inflammatory Intertrigo
  • Dr. Tinea Cruris (Jock itch)

Onychomycoses: Local therapy using Econazole/Triamcinolone cream in conjunction with an oral antimycotic is advised for the treatment of onychomycoses.

Pharmacology of Ecoderm TA Cream

In a suitable base, Triamcinolone Acetonide (a Triamcinolone derivative). Topical steroids are used for their anti-inflammatory, anti-pruritic, and vasoconstrictive properties.

Dosage & Administration of Ecoderm TA Cream

Adults:

  • This cream should only be applied sparingly twice daily, preferably in the morning and evening, to the skin lesion.
  • This cream shouldn’t be applied over particularly large areas of skin on the body or with an occlusive dressing.
  • After 2 weeks of therapy with this cream, continue therapy as necessary with a preparation containing econazole or econazole nitrate alone.
  • The duration of treatment with this cream should last until the inflammatory symptoms subside, but not longer than 4 weeks.

Use in Children:

  • Due to a larger skin surface area to body weight ratio than mature patients, pediatric patients may show greater susceptibility to topical corticosteroid-induced HPA axis suppression and Cushing’s syndrome. You should proceed with caution.

Interaction of Ecoderm TA Cream

The CYP3A4/2C9 enzyme is involved in the metabolism of the oral anticoagulant econazole (warfarin & acenocoumarol).

Salicylate levels in the blood are decreased by triamcinolone. NSAIDs raise the possibility of ulceration and bleeding in the Gl. obstructed the blood glucose-lowering effects of the antidiabetic. The risk of hyperkalemia is raised by beta-blockers, amphotericin B, potassium-depleting diuretics, and theophylline. Triamcinolone clearance is boosted by the use of ciclosporin, carbamazepine, phenytoin, barbiturate, and rifampicin.

Contraindications

  • Individuals who have previously shown signs of hypersensitivity to one or more of the ingredients.
  • This Cream is contraindicated in cases of certain skin conditions, including tuberculosis, varicella, herpes simplex, other viral skin infections, or recent vaccination sites, just like any other dermatological preparation containing corticosteroids.
  • Skin infections brought on by viruses, bacteria, or fungi are known as Decubitus ulcers (e.g. tuberculosis of the skin, syphilis of the skin, herpes simplex, herpes zoster, chickenpox).
  • Two different types of rosacea include rosacea and rosacea-like dermatitis.

Side Effects of Ecoderm TA Cream

On rare occasions, temporary localized mild discomfort, itching, and redness may appear after application. Even skin that is more sensitive can tolerate econazole due to its low allergenicity. Long-term continuous topical steroid therapy, particularly in infants and toddlers, or the use of occlusive dressings can cause adrenal suppression. The fact that a baby’s napkin can act as an occlusive dressing should not be overlooked.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Topical corticosteroids during pregnancy can result in fetal development defects because Triamcinolone Acetonide, not Econazole, crosses the placenta and causes birth defects. It is still unclear whether this discovery applies to people. It is not advised to use topical steroids during pregnancy, especially not in high doses or for extended periods of time.

Conazole and Triamcinolone, to a lesser extent, are secreted in breast milk during lactation. As a result, breastfeeding should not be continued while using this cream, or it should be discontinued if it is.

Precautions & Warnings

  • only for external use. Both oral administration and ophthalmology are inappropriate uses for this cream.
  • Drug use should be stopped if a reaction occurs that suggests chemical sensitivity or hypersensitivity.
  • Applying corticosteroids topically can cause systemic effects, such as adrenal suppression.
  • Numerous factors, such as application to a large skin surface, application to skin that has been damaged, application while wearing occlusive skin dressings, and prolonging the course of treatment can all increase systemic absorption.
  • Stretch marks, telangiectasia, purpura, and thinning and atrophy of the skin are all conditions associated with topical corticosteroids.
  • The risk of secondary skin infections or opportunistic infections may rise when using topical corticosteroids.

Children:

only for external use. Both oral advertisements and ophthalmology should avoid using this cream. When treating kids, extra caution is needed. The characteristics of a child’s skin in comparison to adults and the larger skin surface area in relation to body weight may cause greater absorption of the corticosteroid through the skin. Children should only apply this cream sparingly (less than 10% of the body surface area) and for brief periods of time (less than two weeks).

The use of both systemic and topical corticosteroids may lead to visual disturbance. When a patient complains of symptoms like blurred vision or other visual disturbances, the patient should be suggested to an ophthalmologist for evaluation of any potential causes, which may include cataracts or glaucoma, or uncommon conditions like central serous chorioretinopathy (CSCR).

Storage Conditions

Store in a cool (below 30?C) and dry place, away from light. Keep out of the reach of children.
