Electrolytes that are frequently lost due to a variety of conditions, such as diarrhea, vomiting, excessive sweating, and so forth, are included in cholera saline. As a result, in cases of cholera, along with diarrhoea, vomiting, and fluid loss, this saline is used to replenish and restore the body’s normal electrolyte balance.
Pharmacology
This is a pyrogen-free sterile injection solution of Sodium Chloride, Potassium Chloride, and Sodium Acetate (as Trihydrate) in Water.
Dosage & Administration
- Cholera Saline is infused at various rates and volumes depending on the patient’s needs and the doctor’s discretion.
- It typically varies based on the patient’s age, weight, and clinical condition.
Administration Procedure:
- Before using, check the infusion set and infusion solution.
- Pull the Euro head’s protective cover off with moderate pressure.
- Hold the Euro head loosely, but not the bag.
- Hold the giving set on the top white area of the flow regulator while fully opened; do not hold it in the membrane venting region.
- Fit the connector of the administration set firmly to the needle and insert the spike of the administration set into the Euro head.

- The venipuncture site should be located and cleaned with an antiseptic solution, and then the needle should be inserted.

Contraindications
In the event of an acute respiratory or other active infection, defer administration. If possible, avoid giving saline to a patient who is receiving corticosteroids or other immunosuppressive drugs because it may impair their immunological response.
Side Effects of Koloride 1000 ml
Malaise, low-grade fever, headache, widespread aches and pains, flushing, generalized urticaria, tachycardia, and hypotension are some of the symptoms that can arise. Reactions at the injection site are rare, but they do happen every now and then, usually within 5 to 7 days. Erythema, swelling, soreness, tenderness, and induration are some of the symptoms.
Precautions & Warnings
Cholera saline contains a variety of electrolytes, so it should be used cautiously in patients who have electrolyte imbalances, including those who are pregnant, have renal impairment, have heart failure, have pulmonary congestion, have suffered a head injury, or are taking potassium-saving diuretics.
