Indications of Rocovas 10

Rocovas 10 is a member of the statin drug class. It lowers cholesterol and lowers the risk of developing heart disease. A fatty substance called cholesterol causes your blood vessels to narrow as it accumulates, which can result in a heart attack or stroke.

Pharmacology

The rate-limiting enzyme in the conversion of 3-hydroxy-3-methyl glutaryl coenzyme A to mevalonate, a precursor to cholesterol, is HMG-CoA reductase. HMG-CoA reductase is selectively and aggressively inhibited by rosuvastatin. Rosuvastatin affects lipid levels through two different mechanisms. It improves LDL absorption and degradation by increasing the number of hepatic LDL receptors on the cell surface, to start with. Second, by preventing the liver from producing VLDL, rosuvastatin reduces the total amount of VLDL and LDL particles.

Dosage & Administration of Rocovas 10

• 5 to 40 mg administered once daily. When a patient doesn’t meet their LDL-C goal after taking 20 mg, only use 40 mg.
• HoFH: 20 mg/day as a starting dose.
• Patients with HeFH in children should take 5?10 mg per day if they are 8?10 years old, and 5?20 mg per day if they are 10?17 years old.
• Patients aged 7 to 17 who have HoFH should take 20 mg per day.
• You can take rosuvastatin at any time of day, with or without food.

Interaction of Rocovas 10

Contraindications
